The Mindset Mentor

I love to listen to Rob Dial speak about important topics that encourage me to take a deeper look into my everyday life. Each podcast is between 15-30 minutes, so they’re not a huge time commitment. The show’s topics of conversation include self-love and changing negative self-talk, empowerment, how to set boundaries with friends and family, and how to create healthy habits. The Mindset Mentor also allows me to look into my personal and professional relationships while learning how to stay present, motivated, and useful.

AA Beyond Belief

The “God” stuff scares many folks away from recovery, however, the AA Beyond Belief podcast offers a 12 Step recovery companion from a secular point of view. I myself enjoy listening to this show quite often, as it gives my recovery balance. It’s very professionally produced and now contains over 200 episodes to listen through, including one with yours truly.

I’d like to recommend Jean McCarthy’s The Bubble Hour as a wonderful podcast for anyone who may still be adjusting to the sober lifestyle. I find it very reassuring in my ongoing recovery journey when I listen to the conversations Jean has with her guests. One of my favorite recent episodes features life coach Lori Massicot. I don’t want to give away any spoilers, but if you too are a sober woman in your 40s, then you are really going to enjoy hearing Lori and Jean discuss tips for self-care and wellness.

The Happiness Lab

The Happiness Lab with Yale professor Dr. Laurie Santos is a wonderful listen for anyone looking to discover ways to boost their happiness levels throughout the day. The episodes feature discussions led by Dr. Santos with topics ranging from how the COVID-19 pandemic has robbed us of the many happiness-inspiring rituals we took for granted to how we can devote more time to fully living in the present moment. She brings a lot of credibility to these discussions, and her experience in the field of psychology does not go unnoticed.

Recovery 2.0 Power Hour with Tommy Rosen

I would not be sober without Recovery 2.0. I love Tommy Rosen and what he has created with Recovery 2.0. This podcast is great because he invites different healers, yoga and meditation teachers, and spiritualists to speak on their experiences with addiction. The dialogue touches on all addictive behaviors, not just drugs or alcohol. It takes recovery a step further than just traditional Alcoholics Anonymous sobriety.

I really enjoy listening to On Purpose with Jay Shetty, especially during long car rides when I am by myself and in need of a companion. I feel like I often come away with more knowledge on many different topics such as relationships, professional development, life changes, wellness, personal empowerment, and focus. A friend recommended Addiction Unlimited, and it really has made such a difference in my daily life. It has answered a lot of questions and concerns that I used to have about sobriety and helped me find ways to adjust to change and gain more confidence in myself. Angela (who runs the podcast) is not only a recovery coach but also in recovery herself, so her podcast is the perfect blend of professional advice and tips from someone who has been there, done that.

Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard (you’ve probably heard of him) and Monica Padman has featured some thought-provoking conversations centered around the struggles of everyday life. These two are great at picking their guests for each episode who range from health experts to celebrities like Seth Rogan and Kelly Osborne. I almost always find myself wanting to put it on when I’m on the treadmill because it gives me so much feel-good energy and motivation.

I’ve listened to nearly all 120+ episodes of Tricia Lewis’ podcast. This show has been such a wonderful platform for everyday people to share their questions, struggles, and stories relating to alcohol. I’ve heard some deep conversations on recovery between Tricia and her guests. Another reason why I love Recovery Happy Hour is that it fits into my schedule when I cannot make it to my AA meetings due to travel or family commitments.
