Virtual Addiction Treatment: Programs

If life or work obligations prevent you from attending inpatient addiction treatment (minimum 35 days), consider Mountainside Virtual Outpatient Services. Our program is designed to integrate recovery into your life without the burden of rearranging your daily routine to accommodate full-time treatment. We offer two options for Virtual outpatient care: our Virtual Intensive Outpatient Program (V-IOP) and Virtual Outpatient Program (V-OP). To strengthen your sobriety and supplement your treatment experience, our outpatient programs combine group therapy and individual counseling with a variety of wellness offerings and support services.

Virtual Intensive Outpatient Program (V-IOP)

Designed specifically for individuals in the early stages of recovery, this program spans seven weeks and consists of 24 sessions. The addiction treatment experts at Mountainside have carefully crafted this program to provide you with the necessary tools to successfully navigate long-term sobriety. You’ll learn how to manage withdrawal symptoms, recognize triggers, and gain a better understanding of alcoholism and/or drug addiction. Through the individual therapy component of the program, you will work closely with a highly experienced clinician who will tailor your treatment plan to address your unique needs and challenges. Together, you will tackle the specific issues that arise during your recovery journey, ensuring you receive truly personalized attention and guidance. Group therapy sessions offer a valuable platform for you to gain fresh perspectives and learn from the experiences of others. IOP group therapy sessions may address the following topics:

  • Addiction as a Disease
  • Co-Occurring Disorders
  • The Healing Process
  • Creating a Support Network
  • Mindfulness
  • Awareness and Coping Skills
  • Cross Addiction
  • Managing Cravings
  • Building a Relapse Prevention Plan
  • Repairing Trust
  • Positive Communication
  • Setting Healthy Boundaries
  • Life Management

Individuals struggling with addiction will be evaluated by one of our licensed psychiatric providers and you can elect to continue psychiatric services and/or explore Medication-Assisted Treatment options. Again, each person’s treatment plan is unique, and Couples or Family Therapy

is available to support loved ones in their parallel recovery process, as needed or requested.

Virtual Outpatient Program (V-OP)

Designed to build on fundamental recovery skills, this ten-week program focuses on repairing the damage caused by addiction, rebuilding trust, developing healthy relationships, and establishing a strong sober network. Both individual and group therapy play an important role: Individual therapy focuses on helping with unique recovery issues and our dedicated clinicians support you through obstacles you may encounter on your path to long-term recovery. You’ll also have the opportunity to choose from and participate in the following clinical groups. All groups meet once a week, for 10 weeks.

  • Recovery Maintenance – Reinforces your recovery by helping you better understand your triggers, develop coping skills, and practice relapse prevention. This group utilizes Motivational Interviewing (MI), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT).
  • Women’s Empowerment – Focuses on how addiction impacts women by addressing issues such as self-esteem, honesty and authenticity, body image, balancing self-care and coping skills, anger and resentment, communication, and overcoming stigma. This group utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI).
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Co-Occurring Disorders – Explores the connection between mental health and addiction while helping you tackle fear and anxiety, sadness and depression, anger, guilt and shame, emotional reasoning, self-blame, and catastrophizing. This group utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).
  • Remembrance and Mourning – Provides a better understanding of the different stages of grief, enabling you to accept the reality of your loss, work through the pain, learn how to live without your loved one, remain connected, and embark on a new life. This group implements Narrative Therapy, Somatic Psychology, and Grief Therapy Model: Worden’s Four Tasks of Grieving.
  • Integrative Healing – Emphasizes the importance of the mind-body connection through a range of educational wellness practices, allowing you to create deeper bonds with yourself and others. This group implements Somatic Therapy and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Is telehealth as effective as in-person treatment?

Several studies have shown that telemedicine is just as effective as in-person treatment. For individuals with hectic lifestyles, it can even be more effective, as it is often easier for them to fit telehealth treatment into their busy schedules. Regardless of whether you receive treatment at one of our facilities or through our Telehealth Services, we are committed to providing you with the high-quality care, compassionate treatment, and ongoing support you deserve.

Q: Can I join a clinical group or individual session from anywhere if I am a virtual client?

Mountainside is able to provide services to the residents of CT, NY, MA, and NJ, and you can be anywhere in your home state at the time of an appointment. We are unable to provide clinical services to anyone who is not present in their home state at the time of service.

Q: Is telehealth covered by insurance?

For many clients, all or a large portion of the expense is covered by insurance. If you lack insurance coverage or choose not to use insurance, you have the option of private pay. To verify your insurance or speak with one of our admissions specialists, please call us at 888-200-6106.
