September 9, 2025 – In recognition of National Recovery Month this September, Mountainside, a nationally accredited addiction treatment center, is pleased to announce the launch of a special recovery outreach initiative aimed at connecting individuals with the support they need.

For the month of September, Mountainside will open a dedicated national hotline and online referral system. This temporary initiative allows concerned family members, friends, or professionals to contact the Mountainside Crisis Intervention Team (“MCIT”) and submit the name of someone struggling with alcohol or substance misuse. Upon receiving a referral, Mountainside will proactively reach out to the individual to offer compassionate, full-spectrum support and connect them with appropriate treatment options – whether that means at Mountainside or through one of our trusted resources such as Northwell Health.

“Nearly 70% of the people we treat are referred by someone close to them,” says Jana Wu, Senior Clinician and LMSW at Mountainside. “This initiative embraces that reality and provides a structured, accessible way for people to act out of love and concern.”

Dr. Manassa Hany, Director, Division of Addiction Psychiatry at Northwell’s Zucker Hillside and South Oaks’s hospitals, emphasizes that many individuals facing addiction are unable—or unwilling—to seek help on their own. “This service empowers loved ones to take that first step, potentially saving lives.”

“Recovery is rooted in love—love of self, of family, and of life,” adds John Jones, VP of Crisis Support at Mountainside. “Addiction isn’t a choice, but recovery can be. If we can help someone make that choice during this important month, it could change everything.”

If someone you care about is struggling with substance misuse, help is just a call—or click—away. To connect with Mountainside’s Crisis Intervention Team, call 860-431-8755 or submit a confidential referral form here: https://forms.office.com/r/hRrR6nwB7e.

Mountainside believes that everyone is capable of achieving recovery. Compassionate, best-in-class staff provide comprehensive treatment with a holistic approach for you and your loved ones delivered in-patient, out-patient and virtually. This has been our approach since our founding in 1998, positively reshaping the lives of over 20,000 alumni. We do more because we care more. We believe in every one of our clients who walks through our doors – before they believe in themselves. We see the strengths and values in people that addiction often eclipses.  And we work to help clients discover these qualities so they can have fun and live a fulfilling life without substances. What’s more, we understand that addiction impacts the entire family. We are a leader in family programming to help members in their support for their loved ones in treatment.  Mountainside has been nationally recognized as one of the first to have ASAM 3.7, TJC and CARF accreditation as a leader in substance use disorder and drug and alcohol treatment.
