Keith Appleton, LMSW

Clinical Lead, Military & Veteran Programming

Keith Appleton is a Licensed Master Social Worker and military veteran with a distinguished background in leadership, mentorship, and counseling. As Clinical Lead of Military & Veteran Programming at Mountainside, he brings a compassionate, trauma-informed approach to supporting veterans and others navigating post-traumatic stress disorder, co-occurring disorders, and substance use.

After serving for a decade in the military as a Non-Commissioned Officer in high-pressure environments around the world, Keith discovered the transformative power of counseling in helping individuals build psychological flexibility, resilience, and personal growth. He later transitioned into the mental health, addiction, and rehabilitation field, providing psychotherapy across state, federal, and nonprofit settings. His work is grounded in individualized, evidence-based care that honors each client’s lived experience while supporting meaningful healing and recovery.

At Mountainside, Keith is dedicated to creating a supportive therapeutic environment where clients feel understood, empowered, and equipped to move forward. Outside of work, he enjoys hiking the Appalachian Trail, running long distances, and kayaking with his family.
