June 12, 2025 – Mountainside Treatment Center, a nationally-acclaimed addiction treatment provider, releases No More Secrets, a heartfelt 10-minute documentary public service film, that explores the transformative journey from the depths of addiction to finding hope and enlightenment in recovery. The film has a call to action pointing viewers to Shatterproof, a leading nonprofit committed to ending the addiction crisis in the U.S. through public education, advocacy, and tools like Treatment Atlas.
Produced by LA-Based Optimist directed by Chris Temple and captured by Oscar-winning cinematographer Niki Waltl, the film follows the real stories of Pete and Rachel—two individuals whose personal struggles with substance use lead them down separate, yet parallel paths toward healing. Told through a raw and honest lens and grounded in emotional truth, No More Secrets is a powerful reminder that recovery is possible for everyone —and that hope can be found in even the darkest of places.
“We wanted to create something that would truly help people—something raw, authentic and widely accessible,” said Rich Lobel, a Recovery Coach and Marketing Director at Mountainside. “This film is designed to speak directly to those who are struggling and to let them know they’re not alone and spark meaningful conversations across communities.”
Screening exclusively on June 12 at Mountainside’s New York City Outpatient location, the film screening will be immediately followed by a panel discussion made up of notable voices in the recovery world, including David Manheim (Dopey Podcast), Dr. Manassa Hany MD (Division of Addiction Psychiatry at Northwell ‘s Zucker Hillside and South Oaks hospitals), Jason Biggs, (Actor and Recovery Advocate) and Jana Wu LCSW (Mountainside Clinician and Kratom Expert). Guests will also enjoy non-alcoholic beverages provided by event partner Curious Elixirs.
The panelists will explore the 27 percent decline in overdose deaths across the US – and the hidden truths behind this data. As unregulated substances such as cannabis-infused foods, kratom, and psilocybin, gain popularity, the panel will discuss what these emerging trends mean for individuals and families while weaving in central themes from the film.
In a time when stigma prevents too many people from getting help, No More Secrets’ public service message invites all of us to see the humanity behind the headlines—and believe in the power of recovery through authentic storytelling.
