CANAAN, CT — Last Week, Mountainside Treatment Center announced another significant step in its ongoing work to expand access to addiction treatment, with its Connecticut locations becoming in-network with Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield beginning September 24, 2026.

The new agreement will make Mountainside’s nationally recognized substance use disorder treatment services more accessible to eligible Anthem members and their families, helping reduce one of the most common barriers to receiving timely, high-quality care: the cost of treatment.

“Since our founding, Mountainside has worked to ensure that individuals and families facing addiction can find compassionate, evidence-based care when they need it most,” said Andre Basso, Chief Executive Officer of Mountainside Treatment Center. “Becoming an in-network provider with Anthem allows us to serve more people while continuing to deliver the highly personalized treatment and long-term support that have come to define Mountainside.”

Beginning September 24, eligible Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield members will be able to access in-network care through Mountainside’s Connecticut locations, including residential treatment at its Canaan campus and outpatient services in Wilton.

The agreement may also expand access for individuals who live outside Connecticut. Through the Blue Cross Blue Shield Blue Card program, members of certain affiliated Blue Cross Blue Shield plans may be eligible to use their in-network benefits when traveling to Connecticut for treatment at Mountainside. Coverage and eligibility vary by individual plan and should be verified before admission.

The announcement is part of a broader, ongoing effort by Mountainside to make treatment more accessible across every stage of the recovery journey. In recent years, the organization has continued to expand its treatment locations, outpatient services, virtual programming, family support, community education, and relationships with insurers, employers, employee assistance programs, and clinical referral partners.

Rather than representing a change in Mountainside’s approach to care, the new in-network agreement extends its reach. More individuals and families will now be able to access the same individualized clinical programming, medical and psychiatric services, holistic therapies, family support, and long-term recovery resources Mountainside has provided for nearly three decades.

“Too often, individuals and families are ready to seek help only to discover that the right care feels financially out of reach,” Basso said. “Every barrier we can remove gives someone a better opportunity to begin treatment, establish a foundation for recovery, and reclaim their life. This is an important step in our work to expand access, and it will not be our last.”

Mountainside is continuing to pursue additional opportunities to broaden in-network access across its treatment network and to strengthen relationships with insurers, employers, community organizations, and referral partners.

Because insurance coverage and benefits vary, prospective clients and families are encouraged to contact Mountainside’s admissions team to verify eligibility and discuss the level of care best suited to their needs.
