Learn more of the unique holistic drug rehab program. A very effective method to treating addictive disorders is the holistic approach – which uses a combination of therapeutic methods focused on the mind – body and the spirit. In using this encompassing approach, individuals in drug rehab suffering from the disease of addiction are most likely to be positively affected.
Since We pioneered the use of a holistic drug rehab mind-body-spirit approach to drug addiction, other providers in the treatment field witnessed the success of such a method and began to incorporate it into their programs. Within a ten year period of time, what initially began at Mountainside and seen was as exotic has been replicated throughout the drug rehab industry to help people recover from drug addiction and alcohol abuse.
At Mountainside Holistic Drug Rehab many alternative therapies compliment traditional therapies such as counseling and education. Spiritual activities such as tai chi, Yoga, meditation and hypnosis are some of the holistic drug rehab modalities. Part of its philosophy is to teach the individual new ways to spend his or her time in a positive way. Typically when someone arrives at our holistic drug rehab they are unsure as to what direction they want to go, or what their interests are. However in time, due to the wide selection of addiction rehab options, residents eventually find therapeutic components that play a part in helping to build lasting recoveries.
There have been studies showing that activities like Qui Gong improve the addiction recovery process, often accelerating the detox process by accelerating the lymph systems thusly releasing the harmful toxins from the body. In the past decade, qigong and yoga have become popular in the U.S. for their many health benefits, including an increase in energy, improvement in overall health and longevity, and a reduction in stress levels. In addition, qigong has been associated with increased blood flow to the brain, increased oxygen metabolism, deeper and more restorative sleep, lower blood pressure, and improved immune system functioning. This practice that is used as a compliment to the traditional drug rehab program at Mountainside also shows a significant lessening in anxiety levels in people suffering from drug addiction as well as fewer sleep disturbances.

This holistic treatment approach was originally developed when We first opened in 1998 and has proven itself to be highly effective and popular with clients and their families. Mountainside first introduced the use of holistic treatments for drug addiction treatment in 1998 when it opened it's doors.

History of Holsitic Addiction Programs and its their intro to Drug Rehabs
In an attempt to improve addiction treatment outcomes for people suffering from addiction and alcoholism, drug rehabs across the country have begun incorporate holistic methods into their programming. However, the prevalence and use of this approach may not have occurred if it were not for a group of forward thinking individuals who launched Mountainside - the first addiction treatment center built on a holistic philosophical core that focused on treating the entire individual and not just the symptoms. This approach, introduced by Mountainside, is now widely known as the “Mind-Body and Spirit” approach. After introducing this holistic approach to the addiction rehab field more than a decade ago, Mountainside has been a pioneering force in the field and continues to develop its innovative approach.
